great stuff... and the only way to get to wear a beret (that I know of)

I'm considering doing service dress and long puttees... :)

Well, in the spirit of role play and to honour my Grandfather, I'll be portraying a member of 4 RTR, seperated from his unit after the battle of Arras. Hopefully, I can avoid being strafed and wounded by a Stuka, unlike my Grandad (he hated Stukas!).

That and black denim shirt and trousers will be a doddle to get hold of.

Got a full set of 37 pattern BD already, which is what my Grandad said he wore when he embarked at Dunkirk (and some dead mans' boots!). He never mentioned wearing any black kit but I wouldn't mind the shirt, it sounds cool. Also, he told me that the roads were littered with discarded kit, equipment, vehicles and even weapons, especially close to Dunkirk itself.

So what's the option for those who cannot get £600 together in time to have a rifle made?

Oh right, RAF of other type of chap who would be armed with just a revolver.

Sorted

Thompsons are fine...

Pretty sure some RTR units had black denims.

Not saying all did.

Its just a cheap option to have a black set of denims

What's the thoughts on the other chaps involved in withdrawal?

I'm thinking French or Polish. Actually I'm just thinking Polish really.

Following on from Gadge's kilt logic, pretty much one of the very few scenarios where playing one would make sense.

Yup... I'll be using mine most likely.

Folks, the kit rules are laid out in the first thread. Whilst it would be good if everyone paid good attention to detail, please don't be put off by infinitesimal detail.

Chommers has laid out the kit rules in the first post.

As many of us don't have Brit kit it may be a case of beg, borrow, steal for some. (Thanks Yith!)

I've got 37 patt. BD, a black beret, and RTR badge as part of my SAS loadout, if you want a driver/loader? it'd be quite nice to get a few of us together to portray the crew of a ditched/abandoned armoured vehicle.

You're most likely right Gadge. My Grandad had several tanks shot out from under him at various stages of the war and it's highly likely that his tank blacks got burned, hence the need for some BD. I wish he were still alive so I could quiz him a bit more than I did when I was younger. This is probably the only game where I will ever get to play tank crew and get away with it!

Good idea Evo, as my Bro' will almost certainly do RTR as well, so we're almost there for the crew of a wrecked Matilda.

All very good dm... but then you'd be less likely to have your SMLE... a shame as your the only one of us with one right now! ;)

Wladek - Polish is fine of course, as is French, but I sort of assumed that everyone would leap at the chance to do Brit Army with the oddball having a go at RAF. Thinking of long term usage, the more esoteric uniforms won't get used for a long time (if ever!).

However, dave... if you've already got the stuff then this could be a chance to use it!

I'm getting quite excited about this already, there are some great ideas coming out here, we'll be a right rag tag group and still be correct!

But that doesn't take into account that I want a Polish uniform. Though I am actually unsure of the Uniform they wore in France... Know before and after... Hurrah! Research time.

From what you say of the scenario, and the role-playing element you mention it has a distinct flavour of 'commando magazine/boys own action adventure' type pulpiness, and I think a lone Pole works there. Aesthetically speaking of course.

If i do end up doing RTR, i'll probably just use my revolver, as it adds to the desperate look, so I'll quite happily lend out the SMLE.

1st Armoured and 51st (Highland) Divisions specifically were part of Operation Aerial as well as the Canadians and 52nd Div but in this scenario we have men entangled in the German division of the BEF so therefore leftovers and stragglers from Operation Dynamo to the west are equally valid.

It would be nice to see a mix rather than a cohesive looking force that has been the case in previous CiA events.

Thought you might. Assuming i can get it working properly that is. Now i've got the chrono, i can work out if all the bits i keep altering make it better or worse!

Hi, can people actually get hold of 37 pat battledresses easily? I struggled and could only get a 49 pat without paying out for a repro (low down on my list I'm afraid).

What about weapons, obviously bolt actions would be common, so a SMLE is in order but, given the lack of easily available ones, would a disguised Bar10 suffice?
